Considerations and Activities
|
| |
Receiving dental treatment abroad involves several evaluations and activities. These can be tied to the treatment itself (which is equally important when you receive dental treatment in your home country), or to the trip.
The following are good to consider:
- Find out what form of travel you would like to undertake (more info under Offers).
- Obtain a written offer that includes a treatment and follow-up plan, from the dentist/clinic/operator and read it thoroughly (more info under Clinics).
- Do not accept treatment you do not want irrespective of how 'good a deal' it is. Keep your own teeth as much as possible.
- Make sure that you obtain information about the provider (both treating dentist/clinic and operator) and their services from a third party or other independent sources. Information from a providers other patients is always a good starting point (some examples under Climate). In addition, checking authorization is important. A diploma on the wall may not be more than cosmetic.
- Be aware of your own health condition and the risks involved in every aspects of the treatment, as well as the physical, practical and financial consequences of these (more info under Warranties, Insurances and Compensations). Here you will find some information about the treatment regarding implants.
- Ask your regular dentsits about advise/tips regarding the treatment plan and the offer you have received.
- Find out what language the treating dentist speaks and decide if you feel confident that you can communicate your needs in that language. Potentially request an interpreter or select a different provider whom you can communicate with.
